This original animation layout drawing of Loopy de Loop was created by a Hanna-Barbera artist in development of scene 3 in the animated cartoon. The cartoon starts off with the kind-hearted Loopy on an idyllic walk through the “beautiful forest…where all the little creatures can play.” When a scared rabbit runs by with a “hungry wolf” in hot pursuit, Loopy sets out: “I must stop that big bad wolf.”

The Loopy de Loop cartoons were the first theatrical releases produced by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera after they left Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and established their own studio. The series starring the French wolf debuted in 1959 and ran into 1965.

The artist wrote the designation “K-28 Sc 3” at upper right and “6” at lower right to indicate this drawing’s place in the film.
